II., Y. 20. orpaAVING directed your attention to Jesus Christ as our jQ) Great High Priest bearing His three burdens, and as vo the Angel of the Covenant ministering at the golden altar, there is nothing unnatural or unscriptural in our now looking to the third person in the ever-glorious Trinity. We never can, and never should attempt to separate the one from the other amongst the persons in the Godhead. They can no more be severed in the work of salvation, than they can be disunited in their own essential union in the Godhead. In every important respect, as to love, and purpose, and power, "such as the Father is, such is the Son, and such is the Holy Ghost." As in the wondrous stereoscope, when two pictures of the same kind are placed upon the same level, and at the right focus, they stand forth in marvellous distinctness as one; so, when we study the work of the Son and of the Spirit in the grand operation of bringing sinners to life and glory, though they be each distinct personalities, yet the work so blends and commingles, as to appear to be wholly the work of one. At the entrance of the ancient Jewish temple there stood two great pillars, named Jachin and Boaz, which, when interpreted, mean foundation and strength: between these two must one have passed in order to reach the holy place within: so, if we would enter into God as our heart's true temple and home, we must rest on Christ as our "foundation," and the Holy Spirit as our " strength."
