Madhubani / Mithila Paintings are a traditional style of Indian paintings. It is said that its origination was in the era of Ramayana & people of Mithila gifted it to Lord Rama, when he married to Sita, also called Maithili. These Paintings are done by the women of villages around madhubani & darbhanga in Bihar. These are done with fingers, twigs, nib pens, match sticks using natural dyes & pigments. Madhubani paintings are theme based paintings & every painting tells their own story. There are paintings for each occasion & festivals such as birth, marriage, kali puja, durga puja etc.
