Description

Published in the year 2013, I am Malala is an autobiography of Pakistani education activist Yousafzai Malala, co-written with journalist Christina Lamb.

Synopsis

I am Malala is a fearless memoir that begins with the day when Malala was shot in the head by the Taliban. The book focuses upon the struggle of Malala’s father for her education against a sea of troubles. It talks about her faith and duty to the cause of girls’ education and the troubles she faced and surpassed.

This book depicts a tale of a family that was uprooted by global terrorism. Its strongest section shows how Malala grew out to become an activist. The first half of the book describes Pakistan’s history where you get a glimpse of the culture of Swat valley from a young woman’s perspective.

Excerpts from the Book

Here is an excerpt from the Prologue of the book:

“The other young man jumped onto the tailboard and leaned into the back, where we were all sitting.

“Who is Malala?” he asked.

No one said a word, but a few girls looked in my direction.

He raised his arm and pointed at me. Some of the girls screamed, and I squeezed Moniba’s hand.”
