About the Book:



A collection of short stories, this book reminds me of my favourite flower “Sampangi”, a beautiful flower with an intense fragrance. I sincerely hope that these stories interest the readers spreading their fragrance very far and wide. The Telugu name of the flower was chosen as the book's title to retain the nativity and original flevour; several native words have been retained throughout as translations would not do enough justice and pale in comparison to the original. Surely the readers would be able to relate to this and appreciate the need to retain nativity. The stories are inspired by incidances and people whom I have grown up with and have influenced me in different stages of my life and career.



The stories were written over different time periods and repeatedly dwells on the concept of joint families, as they are beautiful institutions of nurture and care. Those who have grown up as part of large families will confirm its charm while the others will certainly enjoy these stories – some real, some purely fictional.



About the Author:



Revathi Chaganti is a biotechnologist by training and profession, with experience in both academics and industry. She started her career in the Central Forensic Science Laboratories, Hyderabad and spent five years before moving on to a different career path. She has a PhD degree in life sciences from JNU, New Delhi. After working at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) Hyderabad for twenty years and a six months stint as a postdoctoral fellow in the University of Columbia, Missouri she joined Shantha Biotechnics in Hyderabad and was a member of the core team responsible for the development of India's first DNA based product, the Hepatitis B vaccine “Shanvac B”.



She held key positions in research and development and commercial operations and retired in 2016 as Vice President, after serving the organization for 20 years. Though she has several peer-reviewed scientific publications, her literary pursuits began only after retirement. Short story writing, which started as a pass time, has developed into a passion over time.



Throughout her journey as a story writer she has been associated with the online literary platform, StoryMirror.
