The English Teacher published by Indian Thought Publications in 2007 narrates the story of a man right from his bachelor days to family life and a man who matures slowly while dealing with the loss of his wife.
Synopsis
The main character in the story is Krishnan who teaches English in a college called Albert Mission College in the Malgudi region. Previously, Krishnan used to live a monotonous life alone but his life changes when he takes up the responsibilities of his wife Sushila and his seven months old daughter named Leela.
Krishnan soon learns to adjust to changes and starts adoring the delights and the challenges of family life. Unfortunately, his wife contracts typhoid and dies after some time. This brings about a great change in Krishnan's life throwing him into bereavement and confusion.
He tries to find the mediums of getting rid of his grief but fails to do so. Ultimately, he turns spiritual and tries to use a spiritual medium to connect with his wife. However, at the end, Krishnan comes to terms with the death of his wife and starts attending his daughter carefully.
